Daniel has been continuing his hard work, and he is even doing 20 minute treadmill workouts before school on three days of the week!
He has been doing lengthy walks while using his frame, and managed to get around Twycross zoo for a day out without using his wheelchair - something that would not have been possible for him prior to the surgery.
He is gaining confidence in using his crutches outside, and he has walked nearly to the end of our road and back to the house with them.
Daniel is also regularly trying his unaided walking in the house, and he is enjoying the challenge of learning to balance as he repeatedly takes a few steps across the living room.

New shoes
Daniel has been working so hard with his physio and progressed so well we had wondered if we could be doing anything else. We have contacted Dr Park's team and they are also really pleased with his walking. They have given us a few more suggestions to move Daniel on and continue with his strengthening. This will involve much more time on his sticks and trying to "cruise" between furniture. Daniel will probably find this all a bit overwhelming at first but we know how hard he works and how determined he is with any new challenge. They have also said that he can now start the transition to just using insoles in his shoes and getting rid of the splints - he will be so pleased to do this. It will mean that for the first time ever Daniel will be able to choose a pair of shoes and not just have a pair that will fit over his splints!
